magine
a place where you could learn about history first hand. In such a place,
unlike conventional museums, you could interact with the tools and technology
in their proper context. You could learn spinning as an apprentice to
a spinner, weaving as an apprentice to a weaver, or candle making as an
apprentice to a chandler. You could learn about the politics and culture
of the past by interacting with representative characters and directly
observing these people as they go about their daily lives. Imagine the
power of learning the importance of average people to the course of history!
t
the Medieval Centre, we dream of fostering this appreciation of history
by creating a unique, interactive, and participatory environment where
everyone can learn. Our dream is to re-create a medieval toft and croft
- complete with structures. Our peasant croft would serve as our stage
for our unique, interactive, and educational programs.

tudents
will arrive at our Medieval Farm to be transported back to the time of
Geoffrey Chaucer and the Hundred Year War. As part of our philosophy of
total immersion, they will be provided with the appropriate clothing for
our period. They would then be assigned to different groups led by our
master craftsmen. Under their master's guide, they will complete actual
tasks that an apprentice would do and They will get to keep the product
of their work to help them remember their experience!
