Medieval Centre's primary mission is education on the literature, arts,
culture, history and daily life of the 14th century in the time of Geoffrey
Chaucer. Based in Lafayette, LA; our goal is to dispel many of the myths
associated with the medieval period using living history to connect ideas
from a variety of academic disciplines.
e
have diligently worked to build living history programs that we can perform
for a variety of audiences. To encourage use of our expertise in schools,
we have designed teacher's workshops and we generated a wide variety of
educational resources. These resources include a professionally developed
educational resource guide with student activities that are centered on
state accountability standards in the arts, history, literature, and science.
Experts extensively review our educational materials for accuracy. We
believe that this attention to detail and commitment to educational excellence
is our greatest strength.

twice a month, they focus on learning improvisational acting skills, costuming,
medieval history, persona development, dialect/linguistics, medieval literature,
and demonstration skills. The Medieval Centre owns a wide variety of period-appropriate
props and costumes to support these activities.
f
you have a love of history, would like to learn Medieval period crafts,
and would like to pass on your knowledge to others, we need your help!
We provide training to anyone interested in the living history of the
Medieval period. In exchange, we ask that you help us with our interpretive
programs. Assistance can come in many forms: Helping with construction
of our planned Medieval Croft, teaching a craft to other people, assisting
with fundraising events, or participating in our interpretive programs
for school groups. |
